Festivals and Sugar Intake

India is a country of various cultures and festivals. Throughout the year, we celebrate them.

There are rituals associated with each festival. Sweets are a key component of all festive foods. It doesn't matter what caste, creed, or religion you are; sweets are always on the menu.

All festivals, marriages, and rituals are incomplete without mithai.

These festivals bring joy and fun to our lives, but they also often disturb the diets of most people. People get tempted to eat sweets even if they have diabetes or are health-conscious.

Sugar is the root cause of obesity, high blood pressure, heart diseases, and strokes. This can be in the form of tea, coffee, sweets, or cold drinks.

There is an increase in health issues among students and young professionals in India. There is also an increase in the number of deaths among young people.

Indians already consume high-calorie foods. Sugar, ghee, confectioneries, etc., are commonly used in the preparation of our food.

Increasing heart risks is also related to a reduction in physical activity.

According to scientific research, Indians usually gain two to three kilograms during the festive season.

Consumption of sweets and health disorders are directly related. After festivals people started suffering from diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Indeed, the number of heart disease-stricken Indians is rising at an alarming rate.

Try to avoid sweets!

Sugar may also contribute to migraines and high blood pressure.

Sugar provides quick energy.

But what does it do for health? The list of health hazards is lengthy.

Sugar in processed foods is easily absorbed by body rather than complex carbs in whole foods. Complex carbs require laborious efforts by digestive system, but on the contrary simple sugar enters bloodstream faster.

Insulin is a hormone which helps in blood sugar controlling. Regular floods of insulin in the blood not only encourage the storage of sugar as fat, but they also have a damping effect on the immune system. This makes you more prone to infections.  Constant high blood sugar may lead to insulin resistance and person eventually becomes diabetic.Additionally, if you are overweight, you are increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease.

the conclusion is: Festivals are a time to enjoy yourself and gather with family. At the same time, keeping a watch on your calories is equally essential. So let's enjoy festivals healthy.
