Be Aware Of Your Hearing Health
Like eye problems, hearing problems are also becoming very common now a days. They are mainly classified into Conductive (outer or middle ear), Sensorineural (inner ear), Mixed (combination of two).
Below are the very common signs and symptoms of hearing loss :
• Ringing in ears
• Trouble following conversations
• Changes in memory
• Need to struggle to maintain body balance
• Need to turn the volume up of TV or music system
In case the above systems persist for more than weeks, it is advisable to see an Audiologist. Audiologists perform tests to find out the cause and location of the hearing problem. Along with hearing tests, audiologists may also ask for additional tests related to speech recognition.
Hearing Aids :
Hearing aids are battery-powered electronic devices used to improve your hearing. They make some sounds louder by being small enough to wear in or behind the ear. You can use them both in quiet and noisy environments to improve your hearing.
How they work :
• Mics pick up sounds around you.
• The sound is amplified by an amplifier.
• A receiver then transmits the amplified sound to your ear.
The specialists can provide you with a hearing aid if necessary. Do not order hearing aids online. Frequently, they don't fit well and do not improve your hearing enough.If you have hearing loss in both ears, it’s probably best to wear two hearing aids.
Speech Therapy :
It is an assessment and treatment of speech disorders and communication related problems. Speech therapists are also called Speech-language-pathologists. They do the diagnosis and treatments of speech disorders in kids as well as adults. Speech disorders may be by birth or may be developed by injury or illness.
